This April, after a two year absence from competition, Komang Arnawa secured his reputation as one of the world’s finest bodybuilders, with a triumph at the 2008 Australian Elite Bodybuilding Championship.
Sanctioned by the IFBB, the ‘Elite’ championships have been created for bodybuilders who hold Australian, Australasian or New Zealand national titles.
The ‘Elite Class’ offers qualified competitors the opportunity to compete against Australia’s very best athletes in a competition open to all body building associations called ‘Pro Amateur’.
A 2003 Australian IFBB victory granted Komang a place in the 2008 Elite Class lineup.
This year’s ‘Pro Amateur’ created the ultimate challenge for Komang who, at 84kg, stood alongside massive 100+ kg athletes, ripped and hungry for the title.
Testimony to the outstanding caliber of each athlete was in the repeated requests of the judges for comparisons of the ‘top 5’.
The prejudging battle raged for some time as the exhausted competitors held their poses solidly to a loud and enthusiastic applause from the audience.
In what was described as one of the toughest line ups for some time, Komang triumphed to receive his 5th successive international title.
